Moving Forward
The Appalachian Artisan Center has as its mission to build and strengthen an arts-based economic sector in the Appalachian counties of Kentucky. This gives the AAC a dual purpose--to promote economic development through the arts and to increase community access to the artistic heritage of the region. The Appalachian School of Luthiery has as its mission the provision, under the guidance of a master luthier, of quality instruction in the art of making fine musical instruments. The mission of the Troublesome Creek Stringed Instrument Company will be to provide meaningful jobs to allow trained woodworkers to create stringed instruments for sale using traditional Appalachian hardwoods.
The Appalachian School of Luthiery will serve as the workforce development arm for the Troublesome Creek Stringed Instrument Company. It will develop highly skilled craftpersons capable of producing quality stringed instruments leading to high level employment.
